Mr. Kang is the founder of Edward C. M. Kang, CPA & Co., a leading tax and accounting and business consulting firm in New York City serving a wide range of of clients across a broad spectrum of industries, including real estate, energy, consumer retail, professional services, and non-profits. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked at Texaco, where he was responsible for accounting and foreign government negotiation for oil exploration, covering the Eastern Hemisphere, Australia, Africa, UK, and Norway.<\/p>\n
He received his bachelor\u2019s degree from Seoul National University (SNU) in Seoul, Korea, and his master\u2019s degree in accounting from the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Kang is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was an adjunct professor at Mercy College in New York City.<\/p>\n
Mr. Kang has been active in Korean community, serving as a current or past member of the boards of the Korean American Association of Greater New York, Research Foundation for Korean Community, Korean Music Foundation (Chairman), Korean American League for Civic Action(KALCA), and Korean Language Teachers Association. He is a founding member of and served as a President of the Alumni Association of Seoul National University of the Greater New York City Metropolitan Area. He received many awards from SNU as well as its alumni association in Korea for his leadership and contributions.<\/p>\n
In 2016, Mr. Kang and his wife, In-Aie Kang, founded a philanthropic organization, Edward & In-Aie Kang Foundation(edwardkangfoundation.org). In addition to providing annual scholarship awards to college and graduate students, the Foundation provides financial support to several charitable, civic, health, community, and educational institutions in the New York City metropolitan area.<\/p>\n
Mr. and Mrs. Kang\u2019s interests include music, arts, travel, and various sports.
\nThey have two married children and four grandchildren.<\/p>\n
